Zombie Movies: The Ultimate Guide – From NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD to THE WALKING DEAD – BOOK REVIEW

I have said for quite some time that I’m not really into zombie movies, but I think that I was wrong. As I read ZOMBIE MOVIES: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE, I came to the realization that I liked the majority of the movies in this book that covers the entire history of the genre. Every movie is chronicled, discussed, and there are so many great visuals in this book that you will find yourself thumbing through it multiple times.

When something is called “The Ultimate Guide,” it has to live up to it and this great effort by Glenn Kay. I love how he went into the history of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and the difficulties it had getting made and the impact it had on the direction of the zombie movie. There were no more mad scientists…the zombies became terrified.

At times, creatures are brought up and it never really occurred to me that they were zombies. For instance, Jason Voorhees is included and he is a dead human that came back. I guess he’s a super zombie, but a zombie nonetheless. Frankenstein is another.

The popularity of THE WALKING DEAD is not ignored. You really see the good and the bad of the zombie genre in this book that you need to buy. I will often recommend books, but this is a time that I will insist that you buy. If you consider yourself a horror fan or a zombie fan and you don’t own this book, you need to go to Amazon.com and order it. You will not regret it. I have hundreds of books but this is one of the coolest, if not the coolest in my collection. I highly recommend it!
