In 1979, horror history was made and a horror icon was born. PHANTASM was a unique and scary film with a mysterious force known only as “The Tall Man” terrorizing a town. The Tall Man was played by Angus Scrimm and he brought this persona that captivated the audience. PHANTASM would have four follow-ups, including PHANTASM: RAVAGER, which is currently in post-production.
Scrimm would be best known as the Tall Man, but he would not be a stranger to the horror genre, landing roles in CHOPPING MALL, SUBSPECIES, WISHMASTER, and in the MASTERS OF HORROR series. He would frequent horror conventions and connect with his fans and, by all accounts, they have walked away with good stories and memories.
Angus Scrimm would pass away at 89, but leaves behind a legacy. Scared Stiff says goodbye to the Tall Man.
