Scarecrow Slayer (2004) – HORROR MOVIE REVIEW

I love Scarecrow movies. It is such a cool horror character and since I sort of liked SCARECROW, this 2004 follow up had some promise. They had enough of a budget to get Tony Todd…then again, Todd isn’t incredibly selective as to the roles he plays. If you have the cash, he will say what you want him to, as he does here in this absolutely terrible flick.

We have Todd as “Caleb,” a man that believes in the legend and has been protecting a scarecrow for years, making sure that he does not escape into the world to cause havoc. During an interview to discuss his love of scarecrows and his coverage of them, two hopeful fraternity brothers are planning on stealing the scarecrow that Caleb has been guarding. Caleb senses this and tries to stop it, but unfortunately, the scarecrow is brought to life and now we have a killer scarecrow on the loose.

Now, it’s hard to screw up a killer scarecrow, but this film finds a way. There is so much terrible CGI and countless effects that make it near impossible to watch. The dialog is horrid and did I mention the bad special effects? I did…but it’s worth mentioning twice. They are the worst that I’ve seen…even worse than HARVESTERS.

There’s nothing that I can say positive about this movie. I used to call SLEDGEHAMMER the worst movie of all time, but this is worse. The scarecrow had a great look to it, but other than that, it’s near impossible to get through. Thankfully, I got this in a 3 pack for 5 dollars and the first one is pretty good and SCARECROW GONE WILD is promising. As that fat tub of crap Meatloaf once said, two out of three ain’t bad.
