Scarecrow Gone Wild (2004) – Ken Shamrock HORROR MOVIE REVIEW

I could not go to sleep with SCARECROW SLAYER on my mind. I figured that the follow up in the series, the third entry ‘SCARECROW GONE WILD’ had to be better…had to have some quality to it, and it did. This turned out to be the best in the series and a very fun low budget scarecrow flick.

UFC/WWE star, Ken Shamrock has a knack for overacting, but the only problem is that he’s not in this enough. He has some pretty good lines about the devil and has a good fight with the scarecrow, but he stole the show whenever he was on the screen. Come on Shamrock! Come back for SCARECROW 4: Shamrock Gone Wild!

Now this movie is very much like the first two. The spirit of a person done wrong goes into a scarecrow for revenge. This time, Sam (Caleb Roehrig) is the victim of some hazing and he ends up in a coma because of it. That is enough to bring the scarecrow into action and it was rather cool to see the scarecrow on the beach and driving a vehicle. You don’t see either every day.

The characters are pretty interchangeable here, but the actors and actresses do a pretty good job. There’s some cheating and fighting, but overall, the characters are not very distinguishable. The two best characters are Shamrock and the scarecrow, and that makes this movie worth the watch.

The movie is pretty simple but it wraps up well with some great scarecrow action in a hospital. It gets pretty silly too and laughable, but I really enjoyed it. SCARECROW GONE WILD is one of those films that you would rent from Hollywood Video 10 years ago with no expectations and walk away feeling you got your money’s worth. I got my money’s worth here and I recommend it.
