2012 silver medalist Tugstsogt Nyambayar, 11-0, 9 KO’s, survived a pretty good scrap with Claudio Marrero , 23-3, 17 KO’s, taking the unanimous decision by the scores of 114-113, 115-112 and 116-111 and earned a title shot in the process.
The beginning of the fight was all Nyambayar as he pushed forward and landed the better shots. Marrero would rally back and start evening the score, but things would change in the 10th round when a point deduction from a shot on the break would make all the difference. The momentum shifted back to Nyambayar and stayed there until the conclusion of the fight, leading to the rightful verdict.
