In one of the darkest and saddest tales to arise out of Hollywood, troubled actor and star of the FX hit show Sons of Anarchy, 28 year old Johnny Lewis bludgeoned and strangled his elderly landlord to death before falling to his own demise late Wednesday afternoon.

Eighty-one year old Katherine Davis was a woman who was well-liked by her tenants and employees.  One employee, David Thoresen was quoted as saying, “She was the happiest, nicest lady I ever met in my life.”  No one knows the motivation as to why Lewis snapped though many are speculating drugs.

Though a toxicology report has not come back yet, the police have even speculated that Lewis was high when he attacked the Davis indicating possible use of bath salts.  There have not been any known arrests related to drugs involving Lewis, however CNN reported that this past February he was arrested twice:  once for burglary and once on battery charges.

As for the attack, there were only two witnesses.  Both Lewis’s neighbor and a house painter provided the police with statements advising that Lewis had also attacked them as he attempted to escape the police.  Other neighbors heard the old woman scream in terror as she was being murdered but had not witnessed the brutalization.

When the police arrived at the house, Lewis was already on the ground dead having fallen in an attempt to evade arrest.’

The creator of Sons of Anarchy Kurt Sutter wrote a post on Twitter expressing a lack of surprise by the events that took place and sadness that an “innocent life” had to be thrown in Lewis’s “destructive path.”  This sentiment leaves some wondering if anyone had stepped up in effort to get the man help before a tragedy occurred.

Whatever the case, our thoughts are with Katherine Davis’s family
