I found a new Richard O’Brien show to watch! Thank you New Zealand TV! The delectably delicious O’Brien is the most excellently divine host of DNA DETECTIVES on Amazon Prime. Currently, they have two seasons streaming for free. Each season surrounds 12 New Zealand celebrities, who come to O’Brien for information regarding their DNA ancestry.

In all honesty, the genetics of celebrities has never been of much interest to me. Richard O’Brien however interests me very, very, very much! With O’Brien relaying the information, I am a very eager student and I want to know everything. In fact, I’d love to stay after class to learn more!

The show does do far more than others of the same ilk. The information the celebrities receive is far more precise than what is given on shows like PBS’s FINDING YOUR ROOTS.

Each episode begins, with a celebrity introduction. The intros are shown on a big screen in front of O’Brien after he hits a red button. Then, the individual is brought in and given the ability to speak to the man himself. All of them fare far better than I would as none of them melted upon contact nor did they pass out. How do they do it? When I see O’Brien kiss a guest’s hand and the guest is able to keep composure, I’m astounded! I know that the most sane reaction I would have is giggling like a schoolgirl.

Now, O’Brien is such a gracious host! He genuinely seems captivated with hearing the stories that the celebrities discuss. When he delivers news contrary to what the person thought, he apologizes. He delivers all information to them with his sexy sweet charm that always makes me smile. Oh, how I want to live in a world owned and operated by Richard O’Brien!

After going over the basics, he gives them a phone and sends them on an adventure to learn about their history. They travel to different countries and meet all sorts of people who can provide insight into their heritage.

O’Brien calls them repeatedly while they are on their trip to give them directions. They are so lucky! He informs them about we’re they’ll be going and briefs them on the knowledge they’ll be attaining. Sadly, I have yet to come across an episode where he’s sexts or sends nude pics to anyone. Hey, a girl can hope!

O’Brien comes back and while showing photographs and historical documents, he tells the audience new information that has emerged. Sometimes what is discovered matches the family history the guests believed and other times their genetics tell an entirely different story. Often, while he is speaking a globe that glows can be seen. Of course, it brings the glorious love of RHPS to mind every time it’s on screen. It’s just another reminder of what the most beautiful individual to ever grace planet earth gave to us all.  To be honest, I’m kind of a fan.

In the first season, Richard O’Brien’s beautiful blue eyes are brought out marvelously by the navy suits he dawns each episode. And just when you think he can’t look anymore spectacular, he returns in season 2 wearing a divine black ensemble with a silver link chain around his neck.  He is just so yummy!

I’m hoping this comes back for season 3.  I’ve never been a DNA girl before, but I am sooooo invested now! Tell me more, Mr. O’Brien. I have the pen and paper ready.
