On March 17th, DC’s SUPERMAN: RED SON, the next entry in the “DC Universe Movies”, will be released on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack.  Superman hasn’t always been done the right way, but this animated film checks all the boxes and brings forth a great story and approach that makes this one of the most interesting Man of Steel films.

In this film, Superman is in an alternate reality where he ends up in Russia.  Instead of landing in Kansas and becoming the symbol of the United States, he turns into an aid to Mother Russia.  Set during the cold war, it opens up a lot of interesting side stories and an approach that is fresh and fun to watch.

Despite landing in Russia, there is the gravitation to the United States for Superman.  Dealing with communism is just against the grain for Superman and he eventually gets to the point where it starts bothering him and the film keeps moving quickly at a good pace to a pretty neat conclusion.   I highly recommend SUPERMAN: RED SON.  It was a very unique approach with some new twists and turns and a “What if” approach that I’d like to see applied to other characters and stories.  It was done really well.
