Shot on Shitteo (2013) – A Horror Anthology Worth Waiting For – HORROR MOVIE NEWS

In a recent article, I mentioned that the very talented Brad Jones hosts several shows on the internet that are absolutely hilarious!  Portraying his most famous character, the Cinema Snob, he critiques different movies that are typically obscure.  His reviews of horror films range from great horror classics to films that have never been heard of by most.  He has done everything from Black Devil Doll from Hell (1984) to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974).

Recently Jones along with Brian Lewis, who works on many of Jones’s projects, announced that together they are going to release a horror anthology entitled Shot on Shitteo.  The film is intended to pay homage to 80s productions that were shot on old school video cameras.  Movies like Blood Cult (1985) and Video Violence (1987) come to mind.

I have not been this excited for a horror film in years!  First, I’ve seen Jones work, so I’m confident that I’m in for a treat.  Without question, he understands horror movies.  His love for the heyday of horror ensures that there is going to be a lot of heart going into the picture.  The fact that he appreciated such little known gems as Shriek of the Mutilated (1974) and Woodchipper Massacre (1988) enough to review them says enough about his knowledge surrounding the sub-genre.

I am one who absolutely loves old no-to-low budget horror movies.  Don Dohler for example is one of my all-time favorite writers/directors. George Stover who was often used in his movies is always fantastic.  Blood Massacre (1991) remains one of the most effective and fun horror productions I’ve seen and the budget was minimal to say the least.

Admittedly, I’m not as appreciative to modern low budget movies as they are made with zero understanding of the audience they are catering to.  They create a horror/soft core porn with no plot, no vision, and absolutely zero character development.

With Jones and Lewis, I know they will rise above all of that.  This is evident from not only their past skits and productions but also from the short description and information provided in their video announcement.  This alone proved their appreciation of and dedication to the old school method of filming.  Everything from the clunky video camera they are using to the fact that they promise a killer wheelchair and rapist squirrels.

I am so happy to say that I think 80s horror is back on track and I cannot wait to see the finished project.
