“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the 4K UHD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”

It’s hard to go wrong with Stephen King, the man that brought the world IT, CARRIE, CHRISTINE and great dramas like SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION. I just got the chance to binge watch CASTLE ROCK: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON, featuring 10 episodes and it does not fail to impress. Immediately, this was a noticeable King series and not just because it took place in Maine. This had that great feel of a King production and it was very easy to get into.

The series follows Henry Deaver (Andre Holland), a death row attorney, makes his return to town and gets a call from Shawshank State Penitentiary. The more familiar moments in this series, the more I enjoyed it. The crossover that we get is really great. The call is from “The Kid”, played by Bill Skarsgard, the man that just came off his starring role in the remake of IT and it’s a new character but he nails this one too.

The drama of the prisoner keeps Deaver in town and the mystery and thrills continue as it progresses, episode by episode, just like another King series that I really loved, 11.22.63. Stephen King and J.J. Abrams both worked on that series and their reunion is a great one here again. I can’t recommend this series enough. It is just done so well and the episodes fly by and if you’re a fan of the Stephen King universe and how all these things connect, you will love the approach here. Check this one out.
