“‘What They Call a Life’ is about having strength while you’re here in this life, keeping friends and family close and being present,” shares front man James Mason in an exclusive interview with Alternative Press about the new track and video. “Personal experiences did influence the writing as they often do. In this case it feels like we are contestants in the game of life. The song is a reflection of darkest fears and brightest hopes!”

For Mason, creating art is not a choice. Luckily, as the front man of Paper Jackets, he has the chance to add his voice more than ever. “A lot of people are tormented with the human condition,” he says, speaking from his home in Los Angeles, “and they want to have a way to express that. For me, it’s this need to use that voice.”

Paper Jackets deliver a unique, sleek sound that equally takes its cues from the current crop of genre peers like Walk The Moon, Smallpools, CHVRCHES and Cherry Pools, but also legendary acts like The Ronettes and The Beach Boys.

Paper Jackets was formed in 2016, and consists of Mason, Emily Dickenson (keyboard, live backing vocals), Jonny Vesely (guitar), Miles Franco (bass, live backing vocals), David Allen (drums) and Aimee Proal (vocals). After releasing the EP Don’t Lose Your Head in 2019, Mason & co. grabbed opening slots for Jimmy Eat World, Bishop Briggs and the X Ambassadors, and haven’t slowed down since.

With this first single as just a taste of what’s to come in 2020, fans will want to stay tuned to Paper Jackets’ social media accounts and http://www.paperjackets.com/ for more news soon.
