In a classic match, MJF was able to use his famous ring to knockout and pin CM Punk. From the beginning, the match was a brutal brawl that showed the best of both men and, at one point, MJF got announced the winner after choking Punk out with some tape. That changed with the referee discovered the tape and the match was restarted.
During the match, Punk suffered injuries to his arm and his leg. He couldn’t hold a submission hold or land his finisher, but he began dominating the action late in the match.
When Wardlow came down to the ring, nobody knew where he stood, but he was still with MJF and handed off the ring to help his friend get the 1-2-3 and give Punk his first loss in AEW. It was a great match.
