Lionsgate has just released LOCKDOWN featuring notable talent in Michael Pare and Bai Ling. It is now available On Demand, Digital and DVD and is a mixed bag bringing action and some comedic moments but relies mostly on the cast trying to make the material work the best that they can.
The film does follow a familiar crime formula where the cops chase the bad guys and Pare is placed in the right role. Pare has a dry delivery that can sometimes be boring but it seems to work in this role.
Bai Ling does well as the prostitute looking for revenge and she does her best to sell the part, but some bad writing and story-telling makes it difficult to get through at times. What’s a shame about LOCKDOWN is that there is potential for a good film but it’s handcuffed with the screenplay and story. There are some elements here that are positive and with some better execution, it could have been a winner.
LOCKDOWN had some potential and Pare and Ling are talented and tried to make this work but it just didn’t work in the end. I can’t recommend this one unless you are a fan of Pare or Ling and want to continue watching their career progress.
