Lionsgate has just released IRON MASK, featuring action stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan, which is available on Digital, On Demand, Blu-ray and DVD currently and was a different sort of then you’d probably expect, but it was a good watch throughout.
First, you do get what you’d hope for with Arnie and Jackie Chan having a few fights and even at their advanced ages, they can still bring it. It was a lot of fun to watch the two, in these characters, going at it in various cool places. The set design in this really brings this atmosphere and I’m still trying to get over Arnie’s great mustache. Schwarzenegger has never been afraid to take roles that are unique and this is no different and he owns it.
Master (Chan) is one of the last white wizards, imprisoned with the man in the iron mask. James T. Hook (Schwarzenegger) is the warden and this is where the fun begins. The two have a great deal of chemistry in this film and it leads up to an escape for the master and the man in the iron mask.
There is plenty to digest with IRON MASK, including dragons, Chinese princesses, pirates, monsters and a continued movement in action. The beauty of this film is the beauty of the film. There was great attention to detail and the it cruises along at a pretty good pace despite its 2 hour running time.
IRON MASK might not be the action thriller that you’d expect with Arnie and Chan involved, but they don’t waste the talent either, giving some doses of what the people hope for. There are moments that slow the film down, but overall, I enjoyed it and I really liked the presentation. I recommend it!
