Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just released the HBO show, THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE: THE COMPLETE SERIES, with the 6 episodes and some great bonus material. Based on a popular book, the show follows the storyline and presents a very unique experience.
Some disturbing visuals mixed with amazing cinematography is a nice mix that isn’t often seen and as we get into the story, it gets more interesting as it moves along. Henry is the time traveler that doesn’t really want to partake in it, mainly because he has no control over where it takes him. He does his best to live a normal life but it’s not easy to do and turns out to be basically impossible.
There is a lot of bouncing around for Henry and it impacts his life as he meets those he loves at different points in time. It’s a love story in the end and it definitely leans in a romance drama direction more than sci-fi, but there is some Quantum Leap here, even if it’s just a little. Maybe I’m just too much of a fan of Quantum Leap and wanted this show to be like it as much as possible.
This show went only one season, but it is actually a really good watch and has that HBO production quality that you’d expect. It’s an unusual show in a lot of ways, but it’s interesting and seems to target couples rather than just men or women. I recommend it, but know what you’re getting. It’s not a sci-fi rollercoaster. This is a well-written drama/romance that can fall into sci-fi from time to time.
