Recently released on DVD, GHOSTER is what you would probably expect by the cover art for this film. This is a movie that is geared at children under 12 and it’s rather wholesome without any angle. It just wants to be a kid’s film and it succeeds at that.
Elizabeth (Sophie Proctor) learns that she is the heir to a large home and that is when this film really begins and the paranormal activity starts. The animation/CGI in this isn’t the best but it’s not terrible either. It’s very easy to look at this film and think that it’s a CASPER rip off, but outside of a similar look, it’s not. This tries to be its own thing and it succeeds at that.
GHOSTER isn’t scary for adults, but for children under 12 there is some emphasis on adding a few creepy moments. The film is kept interesting with some twists and turns and a few surprises. I can say that the film isn’t for me, but they didn’t make it for me. They made it for children and it works in that capacity.
I recommend GHOSTER. The set design and overall execution of the story make this an enjoyable experience, especially if you have a younger child that wants something horror-related but not too scary for them.
