AMC’s hit series “FEAR THE WALKING DEAD: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON” has hit Blu-ray, DVD and digital HD and might just be that perfect stocking stuffer for you late Xmas shoppers. In the same universe as the hit show “THE WALKING DEAD”, we explore a slightly different direction and a cast of new characters. This second season really develops the people we’ve come to know and brings an aura of mystery and uncertainty with some scares.
Travis, after a tough time in season one, has found himself more relaxed and begins his journey with Madison and Strand to a place where the infection hasn’t hit. The series shows why it’s so popular. This is a drama wrapped in a zombie/horror format and it works incredibly well. The dialogue works very well and despite trying to avoid troubles at sea, the group hits some hard water.
The mystery around Strand and his safe location is very compelling and it becomes a big part of the story as Madison tries to uncover the truth. The ocean gives way to Mexico as a setting and the show gets stronger. Humanity and its evolvement since the zombie problem become more dangerous than the undead. Travis, Victor, Madison and Daniel prove to have the goods to survive but there is a certain reluctance on each part to take over as lead. As the series goes on, the pace increases and we are often left with a cliffhanger heading into the next episode. It is done quite well.
FEAR THE WALKING DEAD: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON is a binge-watching sort of show. Each episode ends with some sort of lead in to the next and by the time you tune in to see what happens, you’re watching another episode. The strength is in the writing and story-telling. It is a zombie show, but it’s clever and interesting and focuses on what makes a good zombie show/movie…the human reaction. We see it bringing out the best and worst in people here.
I highly recommend FEAR THE WALKING DEAD: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON. It’s a great gift/stocking stuffer.
