Former heavyweight champion and now WBC/WBO super middleweight champion, Alejandra Jimenez, 13-0-1, 9 KO’s, rightfully got the nod over former champion, Franchon Crews-Dezurn, 6-2, 2 KO’s, by split decision with scores of 97-93, 98-92 and remarkably, 93-97 by a judge that obviously was on the take or just not right for the job.
In the opening round, Crews-Dezurn came on strong and landed a hard right hand that rocked Jimenez, but after that first round, the champion was exhausted. The match became a one-sided event from that point on, with Jimenez beating the champion from corner to corner and it looked like Crews-Dezurn wanted to quit. In the last couple rounds, Dezurn did come back, but it wasn’t nearly enough. This outcome was rather clear, but this is boxing and the split decision wasn’t too shocking. At least the right fighter won.
