Director Jamie Grefe’s nightmarish horror feature “Torment of the Witch” was recently released via Cinema Epoch’s Official YouTube channel with more streaming platforms on the way.
Presented by Gregory Hatanaka and featuring Samantha Anne Kessler and Sofia Papuashvili, “Torment of the Witch” follows a fashion model (Kessler) who, shocked by her best friend’s murder (Papuashvili), finds a clue that spirals her into the ghostly world of an occult killer (Grefe, himself) and reveals a secret too dangerous to imagine.
Filmed in Los Angeles, California earlier this year, it is rumored that the film was shot in its entirety in one day. When asked about this, Grefe said via email:
“It’s true. Thanks to the incredible energy and creativity of everyone involved in the production, I was able to direct this in one day. In fact, that was the agreed-upon limitation. And I thrive under that kind of pressure. I love the thrill of going in and being as efficient and creative as possible… with total control. The communication, the purpose, and the passion of the team helped lead this shoot onward to completion, and everything came together in the best possible way. I’m beyond excited for people to experience the depths of this movie. It’s very powerful to me and there are subtle layers at play that, hopefully, will resonate with audiences worldwide.”
Though production was done quickly, Torment of the Witch taps into a timeless zone of occult rituals, tortured jealousy, psychic energy, and weirdcore fetishistic body horror. This is unlike anything we’ve ever seen. This is a movie that you need to experience.
