Tyson Fury, 27-0-1, 19 KO’s, is returning to the ring after his somewhat controversial draw with WBC heavyweight kingpin, Deontay Wilder. Fury is gearing up for a rematch to settle the score but has taken a bout in between with unknown contender, Tom Schwarz, 24-0, 16 KO’s, in a 12 round bout on ESPN+.
Schwarz is German fighter that has fought primarily in Germany and the competition has not been great. He has struggled against limited opposition and doesn’t seem to have the skillset to give the former heavyweight champion much trouble, but this is the same sort of talk that was happening before the Andy Ruiz JR – Anthony Joshua battle. If Fury is overlooking his opponent or if Schwarz is better than his prior performances suggest, the heavyweight division could have another shake up.
No matter what, Fury is the most entertaining man in boxing and will bring a show when he fights. His bout, mismatch or not, will be an event.
