The mental health nonprofit To Write Love on Her Arms has released the season one finale episode of the TWLOHA Podcast, a show about mental health and the things that make us human. The episode, recorded live at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, December 16, features actor Chris Sullivan (from This Is Us) talking with TWLOHA founder Jamie Tworkowski, and includes a live performance from Jon Foreman (of Switchfoot). Listen now here: https://twloha.com/podcast/.
Sullivan opens up about his background as an actor and his experience dealing with mental health issues, how he takes care of himself, and why he doesn’t consider This Is Us a sad show. “The show is not sad. You’re sad and you didn’t know it until you watched this show,” says Sullivan during the interview. “And that’s one of my favorite things about this show is that it digs in to things, relationships, past feelings, experiences that people have had…” shares Sullivan.
The first season of the TWLOHA Podcast, which features 11 episodes, shares stories and conversations about the topics people tend to not talk about, like depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. The nonprofit hopes that listeners will not only connect to the episodes and conversations in a meaningful way, but that the podcast will make it easier for people to have these types of conversations in their own lives. The second season of the TWLOHA Podcast will launch in early 2019.
This past #GivingTuesday, TWLOHA launched their #into19 campaign. The goal is to raise $125,000 by December 31, and they are currently more than halfway there. The campaign is anchored by the idea that each gift and donation will make it possible for TWLOHA to reach new communities, share more stories, and connect thousands of people to the help they need and deserve.
