Jamie (Richard Di Gregorio) is a loser. Jamie is 29 years old and still lives at home with his mom and stepdad. He’s a virgin and no matter what he tries he seems to be destined to remain so. His Mom (Sue Parker-Nutley) and Stepdad (Des Brittain) are sick of him living at home, mooching off them so they give him an ultimatum. Get married in a month or get out! They try to hook him up with the girl next door, who unfortunately is just as much obsessed with food as she is with Jamie. Jamie does not want to marry her so he goes out on his own in pursuit of love. His pal Bill (Daniel Morrisey) is there by his side offering all the bad advice and good intentions only a best friend can. When he accidentally walks into a meeting of “The Flirting Club”, an organization of misfits looking for love and romance, his life changes. He joins their group as a last resort where he meets Mel (Melanie Denholm) Will he find love? Will he end up married to the large girl next door? If he does will he be able to make enough cash to feed her? You’ll find the answer to all these questions in “The Flirting Club”.

The Flirting Club is a fun and raunchy movie. Not my style but if it’s yours you will love it. It has a great story line touching on romance, friendship, and family. Shot well. Looks like a big budget film. I really enjoyed seeing all the places and locations throughout London. I’ve always been fascinated with London and want to go there someday, and feel this film showed me a bit of the city that a tourist might never see. For that I loved this movie. Again, it’s loaded with sexual humor and is pretty funny if that is your style. I like all the actors too. The step father played by Des Brittain (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3644680/) is particularly funny. I send kudos out to all the actors and actresses as there were no bad ones in this. I really like the actress who plays his love interest Mel, Melanie Denholm. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3767168/) I’ve reviewed a couple of her other films for Scared Stiff Reviews including “Paranormal Haunting: The Curse of the Blue Moon Inn” and “Lady of the Dark: Genisis of the Serpent Vampire” and this is by far her best role to date in my opinion. She was wonderful and I’d love to see her in more roles like this. Richard Di Gregorio (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2530946/) was spot on and really funny as Jamie. I look forward to watching his film career develop. Good directing and cinematography make this a fun movie to watch, although slow moving in just a couple locations. Could have shortened the movie by 10 minutes by speeding up certain parts and it would have flowed better.

Overall a surprisingly good film! I will recommend it to folks who like movies such as “American Pie” and “Austin Powers”. A bit dirty, very funny, and really likable characters. “The Flirting Club” is a comedy that is satisfying to watch and disgusting, in a good way, all at the same time.

Rating: 6.5/10  – “Jamie…You’ve got a gun, use it!”
