Amy (Christine Taylor) and her hubby Nick (Shane Brolly) are a happy couple, but there is a problem. Amy has a shady past and visions of pure horror surrounding a hospital and crazies that run it, performing operations that are unnecessary on the patients. She wakes up and nearly jumps out of bed in panties. I mention this because I never thought that Ben Stiller’s wife was all that attractive, but she looked great in this film and I now know why she’s currently being “Stillered.”

A car accident would severely injure poor Nick, and he would be packed up and shipped out to a hospital in an ambulance while Amy stands confused. She was not allowed to go in the ambulance and now her husband is nowhere to be found. She has searched all hospitals and the only thing that she found was that guy from Sliders. Remember that T.V. show? No, it’s not the guy with the hologram friend…that’s Quantum Leap. Sliders had Jerry O’Connell, as “Lucas,” a man that was also involved in the car accident and cannot find his younger sister. Collectively, Amy and Lucas are now on a mission to figure out this mystery.

To make things more complicated, people on the streets that Amy comes into contact with are apparently demons as they mutate into disgusting creatures and state that “he’s mine,” and “leave him.” This movie is entertaining for the first hour and it has you guessing but as it unravels, it slows down to a crawl and the ending is unsatisfying. Not to mention that that guy from Sliders turned out to be a jerk off. Where’s the Quantum Leap guy when you need him? In the end, this movie fails. It is not a bad movie, but it showed potential early on and was really interesting, but it just couldn’t keep the momentum going.

There is some gore, some T&A, and some demon-looking monsters stirring up some trouble, and the acting is convincing. There are some positive points to this movie and it is worth a watch, but it cannot be classified as much more than just an average straight to video horror film. I reluctantly recommend it, and if you are a Sliders fan, I really recommend it. Quantum Leap fans should pass on this one. You won’t find Scott Bakula here.

Scared Stiff Rating: 5.5/10. Not bad, not Bakula.
