Scarlet Rose Production is a new production company based out of Queen Creek, Arizona. It is owned and operated by Screen Actor and Writer Ricardo Andres with his wife Rhonda Hooks-Andres, also a part time actor and Writer.

Back in 2010, Ricardo was working to get into the Arizona Film Market. He was doing very well until the state decided to do away with any kind of real incentive program, for outside companies to bring business to the state. Prior to losing the incentives, Ricardo and Rhonda worked on such movies as “Queens of Country”, “A Kings Man”, and “Dirty Little Trick”. Since the loss of incentives, Ricardo has been traveling out of state for most of his work. He has worked on The Avengers, Night Shift, Breaking Bad, and several other New Mexico Productions. Locally, he has done one major motion picture as a principal, when he was cast as Terry s Father (Ricardo Franco), in Francis Ford Coppola’s,”On the Road”. He was the 2nd 2nd AD on the low budget SAG release of “Suspicion”.

Without the incentives, there is a lack of opportunities for Arizona actors, in anything other than no pay/ low pay productions. Dedicated local Arizona actors use their own funds, and rely on each other in order to see their faces on the screen. Ricardo is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and therefore not much comes to Arizona that he can work on. This is when the Scarlet Rose Production came about.

Rick and Rhonda have written and are currently producing a Western called, “The Deadliest Gun”. This epic adventure is very unique to the western films being produced these days. The movie is set in the Civil War Period around 1864. Two sisters come out west with their parents and 3 brothers to settle in California. Everything goes well considering they have to cross battle lines, Union and Confederate troops and the occasional desperado. Working with Rick and Rhonda is Michael Walters a veteran producer and Owner of HD Texas. Michael is co producing Deadliest Gun and working on his own film, The Prodigal.

“Deadliest Gun” is the first of several movies waiting to go into production. Ricardo has gone on to write, “Secrets of the Superstitions”. This is a Science Fiction Thriller about two long time friends going up into the Superstition Mountains to look for semi precious stones for jewelry. Tim and Mark stumble upon an ancient Indian Site well hidden from the casual onlooker. Once they begin to investigate the location, Mark makes a bad decision and opens an urn that had been sealed to keep what was inside the urn, trapped in the urn. Secrets is currently in Pre-Production, casting minor roles and will be seeking funding to begin filming shortly.

“America, Land of the Free” is the third movie being produced under the Scarlet Rose Production name. America is a made for TV movie about a middle school principal in Texas, having to deal with the current trend of people wanting to make a name for themselves by attacking and killing young, defenseless students for the hell of it. She goes before the school board and pleads her case to arm her teachers. She wins her case and trains and arms her teachers in time to stop a blood bath.

The final Film being developed is “The Blob 2014”, another science fiction thriller picking up where the 1958 version of the movie left off. Pete, a young Inuit finds a military storage container in the Arctic and tells the village elders about the find. The elders open the container against written warnings and unleash the Blob. This is not the same Blob. It has mutated into something far worse.

Scarlet Rose Production is a SAG production company and will be employing up to 80 actors and crew, in Texas, for “The Deadliest Gun”. Scarlet Rose is finalizing negotiations with one lead actor and the Director before the remainder of the budgeted funds are released and filming can start.
