Every year, I look forward to the BIG FAT QUIZ of the year and the BIG FAT QUIZ of everything. As it airs in the UK and I live in the states, I usually have to wait a few days to see it. Today, someone uploaded it to youtube. The hubby and I chilling out over lunch put it on and we enjoyed our annual laugh-in.
As always Jimmy Carr serves as the host and at times playful punching bag of the guests. David Mitchell once again brings his snarky and dignified humor. His teammate was Michelle Wolf who managed to be tolerable. Intuitive and sultry Claudia Winkleman was teamed with hilarious Comedy Central alum Mo Gilligan. They brought real effort with a bit of naughtiness that makes for a entertaining watch.
The last team is my favorite. This duo is often paired together and I just want them to make out in the worst kind of way. Richard Ayoade and Noel Fielding are just all sorts of sexy. They’re near exact opposites, but have so much chemistry. My favorite bit this year was when Fielding mentioned how old the buildings were and David Mitchell corrected him. Ayoade then spoke up and corrected Mitchell. It was very cute as if he were standing up for Fielding by bullying smart guy David Mitchell. I know this is a complete fan-fic read of this. I get that. I don’t care. I like to think of Fielding as a little minx, punk, rebel and Ayoade as his fierce, intelligent, sexy protector. I want those boys to play together and I want them to let me watch.
Like every year, this show was fantastic. All of the traditional routines have returned. The children are amazing in their annual play, Charles Dance’s dramatic delivery is hysterical as always, and Jon Snow’s dancing routine will surely crack you up.
There is a healthy balance of political and pop culture references. Carr doesn’t shy away from the news, but still keeps everything light and fun. He is a quick-witted, cute boy with a clean-cut haircut and a well-tailored suit. I like him.
Everyone did a really great job. I’m not typically a Wolf fan, but even she made me laugh a few times. I think she has her guard down when she’s in the UK. She’s not trying to prove anything and can just relax and be herself. I like her when she’s like that. I remember she was on something outside the US a few years ago and I enjoyed her then too. Maybe the states just brings out the worst in her or at the very least it brings out her anger more.
My favorite out of all of them is Noel Fielding. He’s such a good looking gent with a lovely disposition and a lovelier smile. I like him in everything. He’s just so likable and adorable. YUMMY!
