When it comes to storytelling and the horror/suspense genre, Alfred Hitchcock stands atop and has a list of films that are considered classics and rightfully so. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment have shown the same love of Hitchcock as his fans have with a release of four of the most important films he’s done with PSYCHO, REAR WINDOW, VERTIGO and THE BIRDS. These are presented in the best light possible with a 4K Ultra HD release that also includes Blu-ray and Digital in an incredible set with great artwork, making this a must own for collectors.
The biggest draw of this set is the uncut version of PSYCHO. The 1960 film that shocked the fans and inspired so many other films can now be seen exactly how Hitchcock wanted the audience to. Featuring additional footage and with the work that they did to remaster it, this film is a new experience. This is one of my favorite films and seeing the uncut version that I never knew existed was great.
On top of the feature films, there are tons of extras in this set. This is the dream set for Hitchcock fans. REAR WINDOW has many, including commentary, interviews and even a documentary.
VERTIGO has an alternative ending, documentary and interviews. THE BIRDS features much of the same along with a deleted scene. I can’t emphasize how impressed I am with this collection and how well it’s presented. If you own these already on DVD or Blu-ray from their past releases, you might want to give them away and get this set. They put so much thought and effort into making this a must own for collectors.
I can’t recommend this one enough. Get your copy and reserve a night to watch these back to back in the best possible presentation that they’ve ever seen.
