THANKSKILLING (2009) – HORROR MOVIE REVIEW

Geno

By Chris Summerfield

Thanksgiving will never be the same again…

The year 1621 the first thanksgiving just over, a large breasted lady is on the run, trying to escape a crazed murderous Turkey…

The movie then goes to modern day, five college students heading home on a thanksgiving break. Johnny (Lance Predmore) the leader of the gang, seems at first a little shallow though as a tender side to him and as the hots for Kristen (Lindsey Anderson) Billy (Aaron Carlson) a loud mouthed, fun loving crude guy, as regards Kristen, she is the girl of a sheriff and obviously keen on Johnny as well. Ali (Natasha Cordova) a pleasant girl, and last of all, Darren (Ryan Francis) a man whom appears a little immature and crazy at times, though does have knowledge regards the story behind the crazed Turkey and tells the story while they camp out, having stopped during their journey home.

Another character who plays a major part within the movie is, Oscar the hermit (General Bastard) we first meet him while he is walking his dog, Flashy (Jake) through the forest. Flashy urinates upon a sacred burial ground, marketed with a totem. This seems to bring the murderous turkey alive, and killing poor Flashy. Oscar though vows revenge…

Meanwhile the five students are well in to party spirit… Kristen wonders off and catches glimpse of the evil turkey and on returning breaks the news to the others, however they find it hilarious, then again wouldn’t you? Johnny though tries to understand her…

A gutted rabbit is thrown in to the fire, but by whom?

The morning comes and Oscar arrives at their campsite stating an evil turkey is on the loose and advising them to be on their way…

Johnny goes home to his parents to see them killed by the turkey. Upset Johnny then flees to his friends telling them they must find away to stop the turkey. And in the meantime Ali and her boyfriend (Kevin Stewart) are engaged in sexual activity when the turkey strikes… At least the turkey promotes safe sex with the usage of a, Gravy flavoured condom.

The turkey’s slaughter continues, his next victim being, Kirsten father…

A flaw for this movie being when the turkey wears the face of the father and Kirsten still believes it to be her father? Umm interesting? Then again who would believe a turkey would go on a killing rampage and drive a car…

The search then begins for a book that could possibly have the answers that would lead to the defeat of this demonic turkey…

This movie is over the top and outrageous, as a fun feel to it and some great one-liners, carried out on a low budget with not bad acting… Yes I like this movie, it’s wacky and obscure. Jordan Downey, well done, and please bring us more of your twisted humour…
