I’m a huge Schwarzenegger fan. He has had very few bad movies and even the ones that weren’t that good were at least watchable. Of course, he is most known as the Terminator or Sperminator. I guess it depends on who you talk to. OK, he sexually harassed some people. So what? They don’t call him the Sperminator for nothing.
Well, in 1984, the world was introduced to the cyborg from the future, the killing machine, the TERMINATOR, and it was a great sci-fi/horror/monster movie that captured the imagination of the public and launched Arnie and would lead to a great run of hits. Perhaps the most notable follow up hit was TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY. It was an action/sci-fi event. It proved more than a movie and was one of the few times that a sequel was as good or perhaps better than the first. Both films stand alone and compliment each other.
Then 2003 came along and TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES was released and Arnie had to be smoking something. I think he couldn’t get past the first couple pages of the screenplay. Once it said: “Naked, hot female Terminator walks around naked and is very naked and probably a Schwarzenegger fan”, he signed on and the end result was a mediocre film, but it was a prize compared to the dark and empty TERMINATOR SALVATION in 2009. That seemed like the end of the series, but with Schwarzenegger back, it’s time to kick ass again and it sure looks that way with the trailer for TERMINATOR GENISYS.
For the first time since T2, have I seen something so awesome. This film appears to be a remake of the first with the changes that time travel has made, which is just awesome. It’s mixing the old with the new and it even brings in that liquid metal terminator to raise hell. This trailer is pulling no punches and it’s obvious that they are making this film to be good and to appeal to the fans of the series and bring in new fans at the same time. It’s been so many years since a trailer presented this excitement. This looks like another event. It’s going to be more than a film. If it is what it appears to be, we are looking at the true follow up to T2. Forget the other two. They suck. They suck cyborg dick.
So, we must wait until the summer, but as a TERMINATOR fan, I will now plan to watch the first two with regularity to prepare for this new entry. It looks like the real deal people.
