Teofima Lopez, 15-0, 12 KO’s, won the IBF lightweight title in spectacular fashion with a second round stoppage over Richard Commey, 29-3, 26 KO’s. In the first round, Commey was able to land some right hands from the outside, but by the end of the round, Lopez was finding his mark. In the second round, a hard right hand would drop Commey to the floor. He would get up on wobbly legs and continue. A barrage of punches would convince the referee to stop the fight and a new IBF champion was crowned.
Lopez is ready for bigger things now, including a match with Vasyl Lomachenko in his next bout. That should be an interesting fight.
