In 2015, SICKLE was released by Cinema Epoch, featuring a killer in a top hat and long black coat. The paranormal slasher would be later copied in the 2016 Syfy film “THE CROOKED MAN,” which featured a monster in a top hat and long black coat. The characters are nearly the same, but the similarities don’t end there. THE CROOKED MAN is obviously a SICKLE rip off with stolen elements throughout. Here are just a few examples.
Olivia Shaw (Angelique Rivera) is accused of killing a young girl and is sent away to a mental hospital, being released 6 years later and picked up by her single father.
Michael (Logan Lopez) is accused of killing a young girl and is sent away to a mental hospital, being released 15 years later and picked up by his Uncle Bill.
While on the road, Olivia asks her dad where her mother is. He notes that they are apart and that the mother will come around and wants to “see her get settled.”
While on the road, Michael asks his uncle why his parents didn’t show up. Uncle Bill notes that they will come see him in a few months when he gets settled and that they are not “purposely avoiding him.”
Much like Michael from SICKLE, Olivia has a connection to the monster and it returns when it is released.
Uncle Bill from SICKLE and the father from THE CROOKED MAN have a hard time connecting to their nephew/daughter. Both are quite confused as to what happened that night.
Milo (Michael Jai White) knows the history of THE CROOKED MAN and states to Olivia “Not many people have come face to face with the crooked man and survived.”
Crane from SICKLE knows the history of Sickle and states to Michael “You are one of the few that have seen Sickle and lived.”
While wanted by the police, Olivia finds love and has a romantic moment.

The final showdown happens between Olivia and the Crooked Man in an old dilapidated house.

The crooked man appears in the mirror.
Sickle appears in the mirror.
This is theft. SICKLE’s story was stolen with this sham known as “THE CROOKED MAN.”
