After winning multiple Audience Awards at film festivals across the country, The Film Arcade and Inception Media Group announced today the acquisition of the ultimate restaurant documentary Spinning Plates. The Film Arcade will release the film theatrically on October 25th with Inception Media Group handling domestic ancillary distribution. levelFILM will distribute in Canada with GEI’s Richard S. Guardian acquiring international distribution rights.
Written and directed by Joseph Levy (Into the Fire), Spinning Platesfollows three extraordinary restaurants and the incredible people who make them what they are. These stirring stories range from Alinea, recipient of three Michelin stars and the seventh-best restaurant in the world, whose chef must battle life-threatening cancer, to a 150 year-old family restaurant in Iowa with an unbreakable bond with its community, to a fledgling Mexican restaurant whose immigrant owners risk everything to provide a better life for their young daughter.
The documentary was produced and co-financed by Miranda Bailey and Matthew Leutwyler at Ambush Entertainment (Girl Most Likely), Joseph Levy at Chaos Theory and Phil Rosenthal (Everyone Loves Raymond), who executive produced. Jacqueline Lesko also served as producer with Sim Sarna and Taz Goldstein as executive producers.
