Sadam Ali, 27-2, 14 KO’s, easily out-boxed the38-year-old Maurcio Herrera, 24-8, 7 KO’s, cruising to an easy 10 round unanimous decision by scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92. Herrera has lost a lot of controversial decisions that he could have won, but there was no doubt here as he was not able to pull the trigger or sustain any meaningful attack against Ali.
Ali moving down to welterweight gives him a lot of high profile options and he looked pretty good against the older Herrera. He still needs to prove that he can come back in such a talent-filled division. For now, he most likely retired Herrera and can now look forward to taking on a bigger name in the welterweight division.
