Most people are familiar with the story of Pinocchio and we now have what amounts to a sequel to that tale with PINOCCHIO: A TRUE STORY, released by Lionsgate on digital, On Demand and DVD. It’s a children’s movie with plenty of adventure.
Pinocchio has decided to see the world and comes across a carnival and falls in love with the ringmaster’s daughter, Bella, and soon stumbles across a crime spree. I immediately compared this film to HOODWINKED. It’s not nearly as good, but it’s got some of its quality and some similarities.
A talking horse brings us through the story and we have the wooden boy brought to life through some fairy magic. He goes on his adventure and that’s about it. It’s what you’d probably expect it to be and most children will probably enjoy it. Voiced by Pauly Shore, Pinocchio is OK and the good outweighs the bad here.
I recommend this film even though I was not a big fan of the animation style. There is enough here for a child to enjoy this film.
