Lionsgate has just released MISS WILLOUGHBY AND THE HAUNTED BOOKSHOP on Digital, On Demand and DVD. The film features Nathalie Cox and Kelsey Grammer and it was very nice to see Grammer back. In any role, he succeeds and this film is no different. I hope he continues to show up in more films in the future.
Elizabeth (Cox) is a popular book author and professor that dabbles in detective work and that brings her into a case and that is the story. The investigation and mystery is fun and the characters are pretty well-developed and interesting. Cox does a great job in the role and it does play out a little like MURDER SHE WROTE. I almost felt like I was stepping back in time when MURDER SHE WROTE played right before TUESDAY NIGHT FIGHTS. So if you love that show, you will love this, I think.
The film is pretty tame and plays out without anything racy. It just tells a story and tells it pretty well with some parts dragging, but it coming together at the end. I found the film enjoyable and the mystery interesting enough to keep me watching until the end. It’s hard to miss with a whodunit and this is a decent one.
I recommend MISS WILLOUGHBY AND THE HAUNTED BOOKSHOP. It’s a film you can watch that won’t offend anyone around you and should keep you interested as you try to figure out the mystery.
