The former heavyweight title challenger, Luis “King Kong” Ortiz, 32-2, 27 KO’s, got a very early knockout over Alexander Flores, 18-3-1, 16 KO’s, in a fight that looked very suspicious. From the moment the bout started, Flores ran for his life as Ortiz stalked him. A couple of glancing head shots, followed by a right hand to the body sent Flores to the floor for the full ten count. A right hand to the body rarely ends a fight, but it happened here and it didn’t seem like the sort of shot to take out a boxer.
Flores was terrified and wanted out of there from jump and he found the first opportunity. I don’t think that the fight was a fix, but it doesn’t do much to help Ortiz in his journey to get another crack at the title.
