On September 22nd, LET IT SNOW will be released on DVD, Digital and On Demand from Lionsgate. A horror film set against a snowy background is immediately a draw as it was in THE THING and DEAD SNOW. The cold and white backdrop with the natural isolation creates an intense atmosphere and LET IT SNOW has an ominous feel from the very start.
We begin with Mia (Ivanna Sakhno) and her fiance, Max (Alex Hafner), go on a trip in Georgia, staying at a lodge and surrounded by snowy mountains. The trip is about snowboarding and having a good time, but the clerk (Tinatin Dalakishvili), is quick to warn them about Black Ridge, which is apparently the best place in the world to snowboard. Max is insistent that they are going snowboard there, but the clerk is truly concerned.
Against the best wishes of the clerk, the pair go to Black Ridge and start snowboarding, leading to a guy on a snowmobile snatching up Max and knocking Mia to the ground. The story of the daughter of a rescue team being killed by a snowboarder is told and we now have a fight for survival for Mia.
Mia continues her battle against the elements and the insane killer, while trying to find out exactly what happened to her man and why. This vacation did not turn out as expected. She discovers a tunnel with a lot of strange things. It is the lair of the madman and this is the moment when the film really kicks into high gear.
LET IT SNOW is a really good horror film, using the elements to create intensity. It is a survival movie mixed with a slasher movie and the two things coming together prove to be very impactful.
Along with a great horror experience, LET IT SNOW is shot incredibly well and the cast is very good. Mia is easy to root for and the pace is done well, slowly increasing it as it goes along until it’s going incredibly fast. I can’t say enough good things about this movie. It’s a winner.
