Starting off the night of boxing, heavyweight, Kingsley Ibeh, 4-1, 4 KO’s, tries avenging his only defeat, taking on Waldo Cortes, 5-3, 2 KO’s, in a six round bout. Ibeh comes out quickly and puts pressure on Cortes, but he is rather slow and is having a hard time landing. Cortes is not eager to engage as Ibeh switches constantly between southpaw and orthodox.
Round two, the fight is really heating up and Ibeh is landing some good shots. Halfway into round 2, Ibeh is breathing very heavy. At 286 pounds and throwing nothing but haymakers, it’s not surprising that Ibeh is running out of gas quickly.
Ibeh has slowed the pace down to a crawl and Cortes is still hesitant to open up. Ibeh has won the first round without question, but rounds two and three were close and he’s very tired.
A great left uppercut puts Cortes down and out. Ibeh avenges his only defeat, but needs work on his stamina before he steps up the competition.
