Kid Galahad, 25-0, 15 KO’s, took a decision over Toka Kahn Clary, 25-2, 17 KO’s, in an ugly fight that had a lot of grappling. Both fighters seemed uncomfortable from the start. Neither was able to really take control of the fight, but the skill advantage was the difference.
Freddie Roach, Clary’s trainer, could not light the fire under his fighter to let his hands go. Clary, when he opened up, proved effective. He had a power advantage and landed some uppercuts that got the attention of Galahad, but there wasn’t any consistency. In the end, Galahad was able to stick to his game plan and take the decision win by scores of 118-110, 118-110 and 115-113.
