Jr. Welterweight, Josue Vargas, 18-1, 9 KO’s, had no problem cruising to a unanimous decision over the inactive Kendo Castaneda, 17-3, 8 KO’s, by scores of 98-91, 100-89, 99-90. From the opening bell, Castaneda was in a shell and Vargas was doubling his output. It looked like Castaneda was looking for Vargas to slow down enough to land his shots and it never happened.
In round two, Castaneda was dropped with a straight left hand. He got up and just followed Vargas around the ring without putting forth much effort outside of a few right hooks that seemed to work.
There just wasn’t enough effort from Castaneda to even make this close. He was so reluctant to throw his punches. He was in a shell most of the fight and he doesn’t have the power to be so selective. This was easy work for Vargas.
