Note: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own.
iZOMBIE: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON has just hit the streets, distributed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, and features Rose Mclver as Olivia Moore, or more accurately “Liv.” Liv deals with a very serious problem. She is a zombie and it has caused family problems as they attempt to figure out what exactly is wrong with her, with some suspicions of drug abuse. She also has a looming threat of quarantine should the wrong people discover her secret. She lives a low profile life as a medical resident where she has access to brains and even creates tasty dishes with them. iZOMBIE stays true to the zombie formula but adds some humor and other elements to it.
Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli) and Liv work in the lab together in hopes of finding a cure for her sickness, but also work with detective Clive Babineaux (Malcolm Godowin) and assists in crime-solving. Her quest to solve this problem leads to former zombie, now cured, Blaine Debeers (David Anders). Considering that this show is based off of a comic book, the style of the show is very colorful and the villain is maniacal. Anders does a great job in this part, bringing a very arrogant and entertaining character, which greatly compliments Mclver’s approach to Liv. Her tough sarcastic nature gives a great back and forth when these two are on the screen. They are entertaining apart but much better when they share the screen together.

Before receiving IZOMBIE: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON, I had never seen the show, but I was able to binge watch and really enjoyed this stylish, funny and witty approach to the zombie sub-genre. The cast is perfect and entertaining, especially Mclver and David Anders. Another notable addition is Steve Weber, who plays Vaughn Du Clark. I highly recommend this show and this season. The approach was very innovative and fun.
