The AEW champion versus the NWA champion is next. Thunder Rosa immediately uses her MMA moves to take Shida down. This is already a great match between the two. Rosa’s heel personality is a lot of fun.
Rosa is dominating the early part of this match, but Shida has found her groove and is landing some good knee strikes. She goes for her running outside the ring knee strike, but Rosa beats her to the punch and lands her own. This is one of the best women’s matches I’ve seen on AEW.
Rosa gets a near fall after a few stampedes into the corners. Shida gets a sleeper in, but Rosa reverses it. She applies the hanging pendulum submission. Rosa is proving to be the toughest challenge the champion has had in a long time.
Shida is starting to land her knees, but Rosa, once again, takes command of the match. Her offense is so impressive. Shida and Rosa fight on the stage and they battle on the top rope, leading to a Death Valley Driver on the apron by Rosa. She gets a near fall.
Shida gets a superplex counter on Rosa. She then lands a double knee from the second rope to Shida. She lands the Falcon Arrow for a 1 count. Rosa is smiling. The war is back on and Rosa takes the momentum again.
Shida lands the big knee to finally get the 1-2-3 count and retains her title.
