HEAVYWEIGHT SHOCKER: Robert Helenius KNOCKS OUT Adam Kownacki in Four Rounds – Boxing Results

In heavyweight boxing, anything can happen and we saw another example of it tonight.  Polish heavyweight contender, Adam Kownacki, 20-1, 15 KO’s, was one fight away from securing a title shot, but Robert Helenius, 30-3, 19 KO’s, ruined those plans.

Helenius was the big underdog and rightfully so, but he fought a great fight.  He boxed from the outside and held when Kownacki was near.   Kownacki didn’t seem to be himself in this fight and could not find the range to land his shots.  He was getting frustrated and tired early.

In the fourth round, a right hand sent Kownacki down, but it was ruled a slip.  He was badly hurt and dropped again from a left hook.  He got up and Helenius was on the attack, unloading on the wobbly Kownacki until the referee jumped in and stopped the fight.  Helenius will now go on to take on Anthony Joshua, possibly,  and maybe he’ll finally live up to his expectations that we once had for him.
