Universal’s slasher has done huge business, taking the number one spot at the box office for a second week in a row and is now up to nearly 173 million worldwide. The original launched the slasher trend that dominated the horror genre deep into the 1980s and now, we are here again and this one film could not only spawn sequels but may also bring back the masked killers that we loved so much in the 1980s.
Michael Myers is back and the new film has done John Carpenter proud, which can’t be said for all the entries in the series, mostly H20, which pitted Jamie Lee Curtis against Myers, but it just didn’t work. The screenplay was weak and there was too much SCREAM influence on it. In HALLOWEEN 2018, we see a return to the roots and Curtis gets to correct the mess that was H20. She has redeemed herself.
In other news, HALLOWEEN TALES, the popular horror anthology has just been unleashed on Blu-ray, featuring Bigfoot, masked slashers and much more. This film can now be picked up on Blu-ray and is the ideal flick to watch on a Halloween night.
