On June 1st, from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, the popular Cartoon Network animated prehistoric series “PRIMAL” is released on Blu-ray and DVD.  Immediately, the animation makes this series stands out, presenting a 2D approach, giving it an old and new feeling at the same time.  It was definitely eye-catching and that’s just the beginning to the appeal of the series.

The series follows a caveman, Spear, and his partner, a T-Rex, Fang. The duo find continued adventures and adversity, but they always find a way to work together and make things work.  Sometimes the goal is merely to survive and there are plenty of moments that have the viewer on the edge of their seat.  This is very easy to get into.

The series remains fresh as each episode brings something different and tests the friendship between Spear and Fang.  The entire show is driven by the animation and by the storytelling without dialogue. It’s quite impressive that they can paint such a picture without any verbal follow up.

Genndy Tartakovsky’s PRIMAL: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON is a really interesting show, using an approach that isn’t seen very often, if at all.  There’s a certain momentum that this show has that picks up very consistently as the viewer watches.  It can be a rollercoaster ride for sure and I highly recommend it.
