Former middleweight champion, Gennadiy Golovkin, 39-1-1, 35 KO’s, scored a spectacular knockout over a game underdog, Steve Rolls, 19-1, 10 KO’s, setting up a possible third fight with Canelo Alvarez.
The first three rounds were competitive with GGG landing some good body shots and Rolls returning fire and landing some shots of his own. The stalking continued as GGG looked for the openings beyond the tight defense of Rolls. He would find success with a looping left hook that landed on the temple of Rolls. A southpaw straight left would knock Steve Rolls out, landing on face first on the canvas. He tried to get up but was down for the 10 count.
GGG can now look forward to a third fight with Canelo.
