Fury Strongly Fancied to See off Wilder in Trilogy Fight

Tyson Fury is priced as short as 2/7 with some online bookmakers to beat Deontay Wilder as the pair look set to face each other for the third time in Las Vegas on July 24th.

The WBC champion had hoped to unify the division in an all-British showdown with Anthony Joshua this summer, but Wilder won an arbitration that ruled he had a contractual right to face Fury and attempt to regain the belt.

Fury stopped Wilder in the seventh-round of their second bout in February 2020, which came 14 months after their first meeting which ended in a draw.

Many felt that Fury won the first fight despite being knocked down twice by the American, but a comprehensive triumph in the rematch wasn’t enough to end the feud for good.

Some sportsbooks have gone 2/7 on Fury, while the best price available on the Gypsy King is 1/3.

Wilder can be backed at 9/4 on Bet365, which, as you can discover in this Bet365 review, is one of the best all-round betting sites when it comes to boxing and various other sports.

According to the oddsmakers, a Fury stoppage is the most likely outcome, with a best price of Evens but many sportsbooks have it at odds-on.

Fury winning by decision is priced at 11/4, but a Wilder knockout might tempt some punters given the 35-year-old’s undeniable power.

A Wilder victory on points is an unlikely 16/1 shot, and the draw is at 25/1 with most online betting sites.

Fury’s compatriot, Joshua, is likely to have to defend his WBA, IBF, and WBO titles against Oleksandr Usyk in a difficult test before the highly-anticipated Fury fight can be made.

Two of Usyk’s last three fights were against British opposition. He defeated Tony Bellew in November 2018 to retain the undisputed cruiserweight title, before seeing off Derek Chisora last time out in his second bout at heavyweight.

Joshua is 4/11 to get the win, and Usyk is a 2/1 chance with most sportsbooks. A knockout or TKO is the Brit’s most likely route to victory say the bookies, who have an AJ stoppage priced at 5/6.

It’s 11/4 for Joshua to win on points, and incidentally, Usyk is priced the same to win by that same method. Only a draw (20/1) is less likely than an Usyk knockout, which can be backed at 13/2.

Even though they won’t be fighting each other in the coming months, you can still bet on who would win between Fury and Joshua if they were to do battle in 2021. Fury is a 4/7 favourite with Joshua at 11/8.

You can also wager on Joshua vs Wilder, which looked like the most likely superfight in the heavyweight division before Fury vs Wilder was first agreed.

If Joshua and Wilder were to meet, the former would be the favourite at 4/7.
