Every writer/director that are ambitious enough to see their work on the big screen all have to begin somewhere and this one was the first release for, Geno McGahee, the horror writer and director from Massachusetts, USA.
The movie is based in Ludlow, where the legend of the Cochwood monster was born, and if you would perform any form of sexual act within the woods the demon would return…
And yes that act is preformed and true to the legend the demon returns to begin its onslaught…
The first to be slaughtered being two male campers…
Now what I like about this movie is the range of interesting characters such as, Sam Adams (Steven Joseph Adams) a thirty something male living with his father, a relationship in which is extremely stormy and we meet Sam, at the beginning of the movie, a loud mouth, cursing, angry young man, who is also very dangerous and reckless. Then there is Geno, played by the writer and director (Geno McGahee). He is often accused of being the monster, due to the fact he survived the first massacre that took place many years before and not only is fighting to prove his innocence but also to prove the legend exists and should be taken seriously by the skeptical police force, led by Detective Carmichael (Jeremy Weiskotten) who is also credited as the director alongside Geno. Then there is the, charismatic, Eric Geibner (Mathew Walker Wallace) an image conscious reporter always out to expose any wrong doing and yet harbours a twisted personality.
And has the movie progresses, it climaxes with a party within the woods where the young folk of Ludlow are attending, however to be gate crashed by the murderous Cochwood monster.
Detective Carmichael as to find a way to stop the killing machine and has to therefore forge an alliance with Geno in order to stop it, but can they?
Now what really interests me about this movie is the idea that Geno, chose to use a theme of sexual nature to develop the plot, as we are all aware, (unless you have led a sheltered life) outdoor sex happens and sometimes woods are the chosen destination… and please do notice this is what I have read in local press and sometimes national papers and I personally condemn such acts in public. And in most countries I would imagine it is illegal to engage in such acts in public spaces…
It leaves me to say, this movie is a micro budget one, the acting is pretty good, a great feel to it and has you are aware I love my indie movies, so if you’re a indie movie lover like me and you haven’t seen this movie, give it a go, seriously I like it…
