Curse of Bigfoot (1975) – SASQUATCH HORROR MOVIE REVIEW

I’m sick of people doubting that the hairy man ape exists. There’s enough evidence out there and I’m not talking about the time when my uncle said that my aunt looked like she had Bigfoot in a leg lock either. The Sasquatch is the real deal.

Now, I love bigfoot movies, for the most part, but there are some that aren’t very good. I loved SHRIEK OF THE MUTILATED, SNOWBEAST, CAPTURE OF BIGFOOT and even HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS, but one film that just couldn’t find the mark was the 1975 film “CURSE OF BIGFOOT.” I never knew that Bigfoot was a curse on society, but this film contends that it is. Bigfoot is not a curse for the record. He’s a blessing.

The film started with promise with a brief narrated history of Bigfoot and how it has made it into our times and why we are seeing more of it. We then see a poor woman, who absolutely cannot act, tending to her barking dog. When she kneels by the dog and promises him a hunting trip, this huge furry fuck grabs her and kills her.

We then go to a college professor, telling the history of creatures that are believed to be myths, but that he still hasn’t given up on yet. He notes that his friend, Roger, will be coming in to talk about his experiences with Bigfoot. When he finds the kids laughing about another creature, he walks in and yells at them. He was fucking pissed off! I guess he had his reasons. He went on a Bigfoot expedition and all the kids that went with him are now in an asylum.

So, the film was getting good. The acting had gotten decent, the overacting had gotten good, and I was ready to have some fun, but we fell into more narration and a flashback scene where an archeological group were out, looking for Native American artifacts. Why do Native Americans always get pulled into shit like this? If you see a Bigfoot in a horror film, keep your eyes open…you’re going to see some guy sitting with a feathered headdress talking about the “Big furry mean man” that terrorizes them. As part Native American, I take great offense. OK, maybe not great offense, but a smidge offense.

The movie moves to a near stop and there is very little Bigfoot action going on. It’s just meaningless dialogue leading to an ending where they set the Bigfoot on fire. What a great disappointment this film was.

CURSE OF BIGFOOT is not really a Bigfoot movie because the monster wasn’t a Sasquatch. It was something else. It was like a Neanderthal with a hard on, going to kill people. If you’re going to make a Bigfoot movie, do it right bitches! It’s hard to do wrong. You get a guy dressed like Sasquatch and have him break things and fuck shit up. This film could not even get that right.

What a total disappointment. This film sucked. CURSE OF BIGFOOT is a curse on any viewer that is as stupid as I am and decides to watch it from beginning to end. Avoid this one people
