Everyone Must Die (2012) – HORROR MOVIE REVIEW

I really enjoyed this movie, “Everyone Must Die”. Make no mistake about it, this is a no budget horror film, shot by a group a friends who really seem to love filmmaking, so it cannot be compared to the stuff out there made with a ton of cash and crew. I watched this with that fact in mind. I enjoyed the beginning in particular, as it was set in the woods on a camping trip with a bunch of friends. I ask you, who doesn’t like a slasher movie that starts out on a camping trip in the woods?

You know only bad things can happen. Yes, there are a few twists right from the get go as the couples aren’t as they may appear, but I won’t ruin the surprise. One of the campers is a semi-celebrity named MC Pink (Seth Joseph) a white guy rapper that can only speak in rhymes. As the title implies….everyone must die…and so it goes for MC Pink, as his life is ended deep in the forest at the hands of a mysterious serial killer, as we learn later.

We now move into act 2. Yet another group of friends decide to honor the memory of MC Pink with a memorial party. They gather all the booze and food necessary to properly eulogize one of their favorite rappers. The drinking games begin and so does the trouble. One of the friends is attacked and killed. The remaining group runs for cover in an upstairs apartment. They cannot call for help because the apartment has no landline, and they all left their cell phones on the table outside. What will they do? How will they escape? One by one they are slaughtered by the mysterious ninja killer. How does this killer move about so quickly, seemingly moving from point to point, defying the laws of physics? Is there more than one killer? Find out in “Everyone Must Die”.

It is a fun and funky slasher with lots of love for the genre. Sure, some of the acting is a bit rigid at times, and some of the scenes could have been tightened up for speed purposes, and it is loaded with crude humor, but at the end of the day, a group a friends went out and made a movie that most horror fans will like. Written by Derek Rothermund and Steve Rudzinski “Everyone Must Die” will surely entertain the most diehard horror fanatics. I was happy to learn that it is available on Blu-Ray Disc, something you don’t see much yet on these no budget films. A nice job of marketing the film too, as you can see on the movies webpage, which offers t-shirts, posters, copies of the movie and lots of other products related to the flick.
