On February 12th, ESTRANGED will be released on Blu-ray, DVD and digital HD from Well Go USA Entertainment. From the producers of INSIDIOUS and THE DEVIL INSIDE, comes a thriller that will sit with the viewer well after the final credits roll.
January (Amy Manson) and her boyfriend, Callum (Simon Quarterman) are happy and enjoying life as they speed down the streets on a scooter. This leads to a terrible accident, which leaves January in a wheelchair and with partial amnesia. Without many options, Callum calls January’s family and sets up a return home to recover from the injuries. The duo arrives and things seem quite strange, but that is only the beginning of this nightmare.
January’s sister, Kathrine (Nora-Jane Noone), isn’t particularly warm to her, and her brother, Laurence (James Lance), is very creepy. Her father, Albert (James Cosmo), is a tough disciplinarian and her mother, Marilyn (Eileen Nicholas), is detached and not all there. When Callum attempts to take care of his girlfriend, the family quickly steps in and lets him know that he is not wanted there. January is informed that he left on his own and now she must focus on recovery and her family. She is now under house arrest.
The only person that seems to know something is the butler, Thomas (Craig Conway), but he’s not talking. He’s pushing the cause, insisting that January not disappoint her parents. As her stay continues, January becomes more curious and starts snooping around the house. She discovers some startling evidence that changes everything and this turns into a fight for survival.
Directed by Adam Levins, ESTRANGED is an incredibly intense movie. The cast was so strong in this and believable. Amy Manson did a great job in the lead, and the performances by Noon, Nicholas, Lance and Quartermen are worth mentioning. A special nod goes to James Cosmo for becoming one of the most despicable villains in film history. I wanted him to die from early on and he just kept turning it up. He was amazing in this role.
ESTRANGED is as good as it gets. I highly recommend it. It has an aura of mystery that keeps you glued to the screen and the intensity keeps getting increased until the satisfying conclusion. This film will be released on Blu-ray, DVD and digital HD on February 12th and it is well worth the price. It lives up to the label of “thriller.”
